The Gas Sales Representative - Builder position is responsible for gaining commitments for profitable natural gas customer acquisitions within our residential markets. To develop business relationship with residential single and multifamily developers, builders, and contractors within the new business construction market.
This position reports to the Company’s South Durham Operations Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Responsibilities include:
• Selling, promoting, and coordinating the installation of natural gas appliances, related services and products, and service installations within the assigned area as customer demands warrant
• Project oversight of new business construction projects and providing timely and accurate information to Company service and construction groups to meet our customers’ needs
• Obtaining accurate project information and securing signed service agreement terms between external customer and the Company
• Providing input for use in the Workforce Management (WFM) and SalesForce systems
• Working as the liaison between the Company and external customers so that timely installation of gas facilities is completed.
• Supporting corporate sales programs and strategies, as well as, customer service initiatives through involvement in industry-related, as well as, community organizations.
The IRS standard mileage rate is paid for all business miles driven.
• Minimum of two years of natural gas or related sales experience
• Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a competent and professional manner.
• Basic computer skills are key (Microsoft Word and Excel).
• The ability to adapt to a changing business environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
• Strong interpersonal, time management and follow-up skills
• Ability to accurately complete a variety of required paperwork in a timely manner, including sales contracts
• Experience in sales and marketing practices and procedures
• Ability to perform job duties outside of normal working hours
• Ability to physically access attics, basements, and crawl spaces for job quotes
• Desire to perform customer facing sales of natural gas equipment
• Reliable personal transportation to perform job duties
• Ability to travel across the assigned company territory
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
• Knowledge of installation codes and standards, equipment applications and sizing requirements
• Knowledge of installation codes and standards and inspection process standards, underground distribution system, equipment applications and sizing requirements
• Working knowledge of Customer Information Systems, SalesForce software
• Bilingual (Spanish) communication skills
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in related discipline (such as: Business, Sales, Marketing) and 2+ years OR
High School diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of experience
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in related field (such as: Business, Sales, Marketing).
A valid driver’s license with a safety driving record and personal transportation for the performance of duties is required.
Position may necessitate the performance of job duties outside of normal working hours
Work is typically performed in an office environment, as well as, inside and outside customers' premises
Candidate is expected to live within a reasonable distance of the assigned territory
Working and attendance of events outside of normal business hours is expected
