JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Director of Strategic Sourcing to join our growing team.
THE ROLE
As a valued member of the Sourcing & Logistics team, the Director of Sourcing will lead a team of commodity managers for the North American region, who are responsible for implementing long term sourcing strategies that deliver year-over-year cost reduction, secures supply at the best price, and drives value creation throughout the supply chain. The Director of Sourcing is an experienced leader and supply chain management professional directly responsible for all activity related to strategic sourcing and contract management within assigned categories.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is reshaping its policies and procurement strategies across JELD-WEN. This role has direct responsibility for leading an assigned team of category managers and is accountable for delivering on department’s goals and objectives. Our North American Sourcing team sources all goods & services across many different categories, which include:
- Glass
- Metals
- Plastics
- Logs & Lumber
- Doors, Core, & Skins
- Millwork
- Chemicals
- Door & Window Hardware
- Packaging
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides strategic leadership to a team of category managers that fosters personal development while ensuring quality results and efficient delivery of all Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Leads and directs the contracting process with suppliers using world-class negotiation tactics and with continuous engagement of cross-functional stakeholders to deliver industry-leading supply agreements.
- Responsible for delivering sourcing productivity through price negotiation, value analysis & vale engineering (VAVE), and transformational initiatives.
- Oversees the development, coordination, and implementation of category strategies that reduce JELD-WEN’s total cost of ownership, and improve availability, quality, service, and innovation.
- Manages the full lifecycle of strategic sourcing activities including RFx development & analysis, supplier selection, contracting, and compliance adherence.
- Continuously implement best practices within Sourcing that automate processes, reduce complexity, drive efficiency, and deliver more value to the business.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong foundational knowledge of global sourcing and procurement.
- Strong analytical skills necessary to make sound decisions and recommendations based on data analysis. Expertise in preparing and manipulating data in spreadsheets and presentation materials.
- A strong background in global sourcing with the ability to negotiate complex supply agreements and aggressively drive value throughout the supply chain.
- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and leadership skills.
- Results driven – consistently achieves results even under tough circumstances.
- Resiliency – maintains a positive attitude despite setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations.
- Action oriented – accepts new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
Education and Experience
- 7+ years of work experience in Strategic Sourcing space; and 3+ years of experience in managing a team of direct reports.
- Extensive experience in category strategy development.
- Bachelor's Degree / MBA preferred.
