BWXT is currently seeking a System Design Manager for its Advanced Technologies location in Lynchburg, VA!
BWXT is seeking an experienced System Design Manager for our Advanced Technologies (AT) office in Lynchburg, VA. BWXT AT designs and develops innovative new nuclear reactors and radioisotope production systems, and develops data science and advanced manufacturing techniques for leading-edge applications. The System Design group performs all aspects of system design and development, from the identification of system requirements (in coordination with Systems Engineering), through process flow mapping, P&ID development, equipment selection, performing supporting system analysis, preparing test requirements, evaluating test results, and preparing equipment specifications. The group has key interfaces with Systems Engineering, Mechanical and Component Design, Testing, and Manufacturing Engineering.
The System Design Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers. This role requires substantial Engineering background and knowledge of nuclear reactor systems and nuclear quality assurance requirements. The ideal candidate will also have exceptional interpersonal skills to coordinate multiple engineering activities simultaneously across joint organizational teams. The System Design Manager will perform supervisory duties such as performance reviews, coordination of staff training and development, setting of goals and priorities, and workload assignments/projections. The System Design Manager will provide strategic direction, technical leadership and tactical oversight of work performed in the group, as well as day-to-day direction to the team members.

Pay: $114,000.00 - $165,000.00
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $114,000.00 and $165,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
