JOB PURPOSE
Coordinate the activities in the Labour Relations department. Provide a wide variety of labour relations support and administration to the Labour Relations team and be the first point of contact for union, shop supervisor/manager and employee inquiries.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Coordinate and respond to employee and union representative inquiries in a timely manner:
Questions
Interpretation of the USW Collective Agreement
Company policies and programs
Employee information regarding hours and seniority
Manage the administration of all employee correspondence and documentation
Letters of employment
Discipline & termination letters
Accommodation plans
Job posting letters
Employee files
Create and maintain reports for internal distribution, tracking and record keeping purposes to identify trends and opportunities.

Support and backup the Labour Relations Specialist:
Recruitment (job fairs, resume screening, scheduling of interviews and tests)
Onboarding (checklist and feedback)
Daily attendance tracking
Exit interviews (electronic and in person)
Performance review process
Day to day follow up and administrative needs
Coordinate all employee Labour Relations communications
Emails
Letters
Newsletters
Bulletin boards
Support, communicate and coordinate LR initiatives and programs
Recognition
Training
Vacation
Annual shut down
Coordinate monthly supervisor meetings including the agenda, presentations and speakers.
Track and maintain databases for grievances, discipline, disability and accommodations.
Assist the LR Manager with coordination of files, dates and attendees for arbitration and human rights claims.
Assist in preparation and research for collective bargaining.
Recommend process improvements which improve the efficiency and accuracy of processes and programs.
Maintain Activ (Attendance Management Software) (changes, new hires, terminations).
Work collaboratively with other departments to deliver an exceptional employee experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
1-2 years of HR experience
Diploma/Certificate in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience
Knowledge of employment legislation, Health & Safety legislation and WSIB requirements as asset
Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Strong computer skills particularly in the use of MS Office.
Detail oriented and ability to work to tight timelines.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees at various levels of the organization.
The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $59,000 and $86,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
