Are you enthusiastic about the chance to work amongst a team of operatives in a fast paced, operational environment? Do you want to work for one of the UKs leading Port Operators? We are seeking a Port Operative to join our team at the Port of Great Yarmouth and help us keep the world moving!
Working with the Operations department, you will provide first class cargo handling services for all customers, including, but not limited to , the handling and transportation of freight and goods on/off vessels/vehicles and to or from storage areas, plus other processes such as palletisation, stuffing and de-stuffing of Containers, and warehouse operations. You will ensure compliance with Peel Ports Health and Safety policies and procedures, having the highest regard for health and safety.
You will carry out cargo handling duties, which may include slinging, banksman, cargo lashing (including Containers), counterbalance FLT driving (including various attachments), Skidsteer and loading shovel, cranes and materials handlers. You will remain flexible and reactive to changing operational requirements, ensuring safe, careful and efficient vessel load/discharge at all times.
You will ideally have previous experience of operational plant (including Fork Lift Trucks and Skidsteer) alongside a strong understanding and commitment to Health and Safety best practice. Previous knowledge of Cargo Operations would be beneficial.
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to varying customer requirements. The ability to manage multiple tasks at any one time whilst ensuring all deadlines are met is key. A full valid driving licence is essential for this role.
