We are seeking a Group Claims Officer to work in our Group Legal team, supporting the Group Insurance Manager in providing an effective insurance and claims service.
As Group Claims Officer, you will work with the Group Insurance Manager to manage insurance, claims and recoveries. You will actively administer claims (primarily claims made against the Group for property damage/loss and personal injury compensation) and recovery actions (primarily claims made by the Group for property damage compensation). This involves contact with insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors, brokers, claimants or their representatives, as well as relevant Group departments.
You will also be required to assist the wider Legal team in providing legal services across the Group. In-particular, you will assist with: company secretarial support for the Group’s 80 subsidiary companies; internal and external reporting requirements; data protection management; updating policies, procedures, templates and other legal documents; responding to KYC requests; and drafting meeting minutes.
You may already be in a claims position, have experience in supporting a legal team and are keen to move to a role in this area. You will have strong communication skills along with a positive, flexible and constructive approach. You will have the ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences and build credibility both internally and externally. Previous experience in the insurance, claims or legal sectors is required. Previous experience in the ports/shipping sector is desirable, but not essential.
A driven and determined individual, you will be self-motivated with an inquisitive nature and keen eye for detail. A desire to learn and support the Group’s insurance/legal function, as well as learning about the operational side of the business is key. You will have strong IT skills, with experience of ports related software and company secretarial software being advantageous.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to and influence at all levels of the organisation.
