Definition of Class
This positon plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates campus student services. The incumbent manages relationships with student organizations, plans campus events, cultivates internship opportunities for students, and develops retention activities to increase student persistence and completion.
Examples of Work Performed
- Organizes, plans, and executes events including, but not limited to, orientation sessions and graduation celebrations.
- Coordinates the activities of the committees within the region to assist foundation development.
- Coordinates and supports the activities of student organizations related to travel, fundraising, volunteerism, and any other activity related to the mission of the student group.
- Serves as the fiscal agent for student organizations.
- Builds internship opportunities for students by building and cultivating relationships with organizations and businesses.
- Develops and manages new and existing student support efforts related to tutoring and test preparation.
- Represents the University at various functions including, but not limited to, pre-transfer advising and campus visit days.
- Works collaboratively to collect, tabulate, and analyze data collect from the surveys.
- Assists in the completion of annual reporting.
- Participates in fundraising and resource development efforts to enhance support for students, as needed.
- Coordinates and manages student ambassador program.
- Manages orientation and graduation related events.
- Coordinates efforts to assist, and if necessary, provide accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Coordinates career services in collaboration with the UM-Oxford career services office.
- Coordinates community relations to create internships, career placement, and scholarship opportunities for students.
- Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.
- Coordinates activities of student groups on campus.
- Cultivates partnerships in the community to increase potential for internship opportunities.
- Develops and manages efforts to strengthen academic support services.
- Supports recruitment and retention efforts needed to maintain enrollment.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
AND
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement: Related education and related experience may be substituted on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.
