Danfoss AAIM Controls specializes in the design and manufacture of power controls, system automation solutions, and embedded microprocessor control products for equipment in the industrial refrigeration industry, and has an opening for a PLC Engineer. This role will include developing programming automation and control systems involving PLCs (programmable logic controllers) for PLC supervisory control systems in the industrial refrigeration segment.
This is an onsite position at our facility in Waynesboro, PA.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Create, develop, and document PLC programs for industrial refrigeration systems utilizing Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, FactoryTalk SE, Wonderware, and Ignition
• Create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up.
• Program Human Machine Interface (HMI) Graphic Screens for industrial projects
• Deploy structured engineering practices for Engineer-to-Order PLC projects and provide detailed documentation upon project completion
• Provide technical support to the PLC Engineering team and assist in the development of the team’s skills
• Collaborate with in-house production personnel to resolve programming-related issues
• Provide high-level technical support, documentation maintenance, and continuous improvement for PLC control systems for our customer base
• Provide direct assistance to refrigeration contractors to troubleshoot programming issues from the office, as well as in the field (travel occasionally required)
Experience/Skills Required:
• Bachelor’s degree (EE, or Mechatronics) or equivalent from an accredited college, or related experience will be considered
• Solid understanding of Industrial Refrigeration principles, systems, and controls
• 15+ years’ experience in PLC programming
• Strong Wonderware experience is required
• Strong skill level in Rockwell FactoryTalk SE and Studio 5000 to read, write, and develop programs
• Ignition HMI experience is a “plus”
• Ability to read and create wiring diagrams in AutoCAD (Eplan is a “plus”)
• Strong time management and project management skills to maintain engineering project and production schedules
• Knowledge of communication and controls networking principles
• Strong technical and analytical proficiency with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a team environment
• Results-oriented and "hands-on" approach
• Possess strong organization skills, strong customer focus, and orientation
• Excellent communication skills – oral & written
• Solid teamwork approach
• Occasional travel domestically including weekends and holidays (10-15% per year)
