Taking direction from management, the Systems Administrator works closely with other administrators and analysts to support and optimize technologies such as Active Directory, VMWare, and Azure.

Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the advanced design, architecture, engineering, implementation, documentation, and support of CalPortland’s technology stack. This individual collaborates closely with leadership and other IT specialists, sharing information, actively participating in problem-solving, and developing best practices.
Support, maintain, and optimize enterprise-wide technologies, including Active Directory, Exchange, Intune, SCCM, virtualization, various Azure services, and desktop virtualization solutions
Perform day-to-day administration of core services such as file servers, remote desktop/remote access, DNS, DHCP, SharePoint, OneDrive, and device management, with an emphasis on modernizing legacy platforms and transitioning to cloud technologies
Support infrastructure deployment and maintenance activities at colocation and on-premise data centers
Maintain and optimize system security measures to protect against potential threats and vulnerabilities
Document environment, create diagrams, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure continuity of operations
Serve as a top escalation point, providing timely response and expertise to problem-solving activities as required
Collaborate effectively with various teams within the IT department to achieve organizational goals and objectives
Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior resources
Education
Bachelor's degree desired
Requirements/Qualifications
5+ years IT experience in the following required:
Solid experience with Windows desktop management (Windows 11 and Windows 10)
Solid experience with general Windows Server administration
Strong Active Directory administration experience, including GPO and security management
Ability to write and understand PowerShell scripts
Understanding of the administration of Microsoft cloud services
High-level understanding of overall TCP/IP networking
General understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware), SAN, and other data center technologies
Strong troubleshooting skills
Strong documentation skills
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment with minimal supervision
Highly organized and flexible self-starter, with an eye for detail who can maintain multiple ongoing assignments simultaneously and reprioritize work appropriately in sometimes ambiguous and often changing situations
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
