Essential Job Functions:
Follow standard operating procedures as well as written and verbal orders and instructions in English.
Lift up to 75 lbs. and be in good physical condition. Standing, bending, climbing, crawling, and lying on hard surfaces as well as upper body and back strength required.
Follow all company policies and procedures as stated in the company policy and safety manual including wearing safety glasses, safety toed footwear, hardhats, and other required PPE per area.
Able to work in a noisy environment.
Work overtime as needed.
Actively pursue cost reduction measures.
Perform all assigned tasks within specific time limits and company standards.
Must be able to read a tape measure.
Must comply with all safety regulations regarding the work area, the product and equipment. Recognize and report all safety discrepancies to your supervisor.
Willing to develop a thorough knowledge of all aspects of this field including products, options, & uses.
Ability to learn how to read and understand simple blue prints.
Ability & willingness to be cross-trained in respective departments.
Able to learn about parts and where they are used as well as the number required per assigned task.
Communicate with department leaders when items run low in order to restock/reorder parts.
Possess some prior experience from outside the company or has mastered all the required skills at the previous level in order to advance.
Willingness to share department and company knowledge as needed.
Ability to write down information for future reference.
Daily Functions:
Learn & install control panels, gages, pipes, valves, hoses, and drains on the trucks. Seal and brush with pipe sealant. May involve lying on back and running lines and placing under truck.
Use small hand tools like air drills, grinders, and wrenches. Use pipe wrenches weighing 2-70 lbs. which involves pulling motions. Crawling in confined spaces required.
Weld pump braces on plumbing.
Cut and thread pipe with electrical pipe cutter.
Stock parts as needed.
Operate hoist/crane to position parts, hardware, and components weighing up to 1 ton.
Ability to tack weld & make a square.
Run the wet & dry saw.
Make Class 1 hoses.
Read shop order.
Install valves & drains to shop print.
Potential Hazards:
Eye injuries & exposure to ultra violet rays: welding can cause damage to eyes. Required to wear an approved helmet with a lens tinted to 11 or darker per OSHA standards, or an electronic lens set to at least 11 when welding. Eye protection and face shield must be worn when sanding to prevent eye injury.
Noise: noise level high in torque box. Wear hearing protection.
Cuts & burns: Use caution to prevent cuts when sanding and wear PPE when welding to protect against burns.
Trips, slips, & falls: ensure all air hoses and obstacles are kept clear of aisles. Use caution when climbing on and off trucks.
Heavy lifting: ask co-worker for help or use a crane or forklift operator when lifting objects over 50 lbs. Do not walk under suspended parts and be cautious of co-workers when operating cranes.
