The Senior Manager of Operational Excellence is a key leadership role with the mandate to develop and drive the company's strategy for improving value stream performance and operational efficiency with the clear objective to reduce direct and indirect cost of goods sold (COGS and ICOGS) and hence boost profitability.
This position requires a seasoned leader capable of driving significant transformation initiatives and building a culture of excellence across the organization. The role demands high-level strategic thinking coupled with the ability to identify and implement best practices and practical, hands-on solutions that enhance operational performance, process efficiencies, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement across all operational areas. The role requires a high level of stakeholder management, i.e. interacting with global and regional cross functions as well as partnering with plant managers, process owners, and execution teams in all of the product delivery locations and areas.
Owns & supports: VSO (Value Stream Optimization) – Cost savings on internal Value Add (COGS) from productivity enhancing measures such as Lean, Automation and Outsourcing
Owns & supports: Cost savings and cost avoidance on indirect cost (ICOGS) from operational excellence related measures such as quality and safety improvements, inventory reductions, logistics optimization, and operational processes reengineering
Supports: PCO (Product Cost Out) – Cost savings on Direct Material (COGS) from product design improvements such as DFMA, Lean and Insourcing
Core Areas of responsibility
Strategy and Leadership
Develop and implement a strategic plan for Operational Excellence in Supply Chain aligned with both – the factory locations and the company’s goals and objectives (such as to reduce COGS and ICOGS)
Train, mentor, and develop a team dedicated to continuous improvement activities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational improvement
Process Improvement and Cost Reduction
Identify and analyze key business processes in Supply Chain for improvement opportunities
Analyze and design of relevant value streams and propose for refine, make or buy
Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other relevant methodologies to drive process enhancements
Facilitate Kaizen, value stream mapping, and other continuous improvement events
Project Management
Oversee a portfolio of continuous improvement projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget
Measure and report on the performance of improvement projects, including impacts on efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
Training and Development
Develop and deliver training materials related to operational excellence and continuous improvement
Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement within the organization
Stakeholder Engagement
Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to promote operational excellence initiatives
Work closely with senior management to align improvement projects with strategic priorities
Performance Measurement
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness of operational processes and improvements
Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and process enhancements
