Operates powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines, loading docks and within facility locations. Assist the shipping supervisor in overseeing the warehouse operation to ensure the processing plant receives materials needed to ensure continuous operation and maintain accurate inventories through accurate receiving, storage, and shipping with input into the computer system
Verify production schedules and compare to outbound load needs. Compare to inbound raw material loads for production needs.
Work to achieve and exceed dept and plant goals for OPI (filled commitments, shipping accuracy, PGI load conformance). Ensure associates are getting the training needed to be successful.
Utilizing production schedules and/or shipping orders, transports materials or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility.
Ensure product is rotated using FIFO system unless customer specifies differently. Do cycle counts of freezers and coolers daily.
Moves product packed on pallets or in crates as required.
Checks to make sure loads are secure.
May need to stack empty pallets. Notifies supervisor of any pallets which are not in the correct locations.
Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring all associates are completing forklift and box truck pre-trip inspection forms and are following Perdue’s safety program. Complete a weekly safety inspection of warehouse and follow-up with Supervisor on deficient items.
Examines products to verify conformance to quality standards.
May be required to use RF scanner hand held unit to scan pallets.
Maintains a clean and safety working environment. Performs all duties in a safe manner following facility guidelines.
May perform or work several jobs/areas to assist where needed.
High School Preferred. G.E.D. may substitute for H.S. Diploma. Must be able to read, write and some high math skills.
0 - 2 years experience. Good math, reading and writing skills. Basic computer skills may be required. Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
Specialized or technical knowledge, credentials or licensing required for the position include:
Ability to obtain forklift license; basic PC Skill, possibly CDL license.
When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm. Able to stand for several hours. Work may include lifting (35 to 65 lbs) to heights from 5" to 84", reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly. May need to have the ability to operate standup lift for 9 plus hours.
