Commercial & Marketing Analyst

Job Summary: Responsible for the creation and maintenance of sound financial controls and performance management across the Commercial & Marketing team. The role will be responsible for GM optimisation through the ownership of discount and ad card usage and associated policy maintenance and effective pricing and promotion insight. Key to the role is the provision of financial support to category managers regarding business case generation for all new initiatives, product launches, pricing and promotion proposals. The role will create and maintain a bottoms-up forecast of short term performance based on demand and promotion plans. The successful candidate will also be comfortable working with non-financial data to determine correlation and trends in vast volumes of data to drive valuable insight which will inform future commercial & marketing decision making.

 

Place of work: Based at Home, however, travel and overnight stays in other parts of the UK are essential for the effective execution of the role

 

  • Business partner the Head of Commercial & Category Strategy to shape and execute category performance versus expectations, notably on key portfolio changes, promotions and marketing activities.
  • Partner the Commercial team for in year delivery of margin expectations
  • Support the team to maximise profit through the influencing of pricing decisions, promotional evaluations and appraisal of new category and product opportunities
  • Facilitate the end to end review of promotions and marketing activity, including whether promotions achieved the desired performance expected in the pre-promotion modelling, concluding any learnings for future opportunities.
  • Support with the development of commercial and marketing KPIs required in order to achieve budgeted sales performance, conducting frequent variance analysis and proactively highlighting and risks to the budget within the marketing funnel.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of our commercial and marketing data to extract valuable insights around the identification of target customer segments
  • Provide post campaign analysis in terms of its contribution to business and individual campaign objectives. Presenting findings to stakeholders in a clear and valuable format, making recommendations which will help build future strategy and our overall test and learn strategy
  • Proactively provide insights and analysis on areas which will support overall business performance against demand and repurchase targets

Candidate Profile:

  • Excellent analytical skills, ideally but not essential, with a background in Finance, you must be comfortable analysing and scenario modelling data, especially within Excel
  • Strong collaborative style, you will be collaborating with subject matter experts within the team and around the rest of the business
  • Ability to challenge and question the status quo in an effective manner, suggesting continual improvements and developments.
  • Ability to use analytical skills to compare data sets, identify valuable customer segments, spot trends and isolate the factors influencing conversion rates and performance against key commercial goals, communicating the results as insights and recommendations at a business level
  • Can effectively work both independently and as a member of a cross functional team.

Salary crica £40,000.00 per annum
