Onsite Service Engineer – (Guys and St Thomas Hospital, London)
We are looking for an onsite Service Engineer to be based at Guys and St Thomas Hospital in London. You will have the opportunity to make a difference by effectively carrying out routine service and testing on a range of SSD and Endoscopy equipment. By gaining knowledge and competency on this equipment you will be responsible for fault finding, validating, and maintaining the range of Getinge equipment. You will maintain good customer relations by demonstrating a professional approach to work and you will collaborate with colleagues, to share, build together and meet our goals.
Day to day responsibilities:
- To cultivate a positive rapport with the customer, demonstrating first class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
- To carry out servicing of equipment.
- To carry out routine testing of SSD and Endo equipment to the relevant standards as stated in terms and conditions of the client’s contract.
- To carry out electrical/mechanical fault finding of equipment.
- To carry out calibration of equipment, where necessary.
- To maintain adequate stock levels of spare parts.
- To produce quality documentation for submission to the customer.
- To maintain regular communication with the internal Service Department.
- To ensure the company equipment is being used and looked after correctly and that it is kept in a safe condition. To report all faulty equipment or equipment out of calibration to Service Supervisor.
- To ensure that correct returns and non-conformance report procedures are followed.
- To organise and prioritise a continuously changing workload, ensuring that all customers’ calls and enquiries are replied to.
- To ensure safe and tidy working including use of protective footwear, work wear and hard hats were required for local site working.
- To problem solve, combining initiative with a practical and logical approach to all aspects of the position.
- To provide sales leads to Service/Sales Manager
- To provide out of hours stand by cover, on a rota basis, in order to accommodate the needs of our customers.
- To produce written reports, as and when required/requested.
- To submit accurately completed expense claim forms, with supportive documentation, on time.
- To maintain telephone contact with the office on a regular basis and with line supervisor.
- To assist the team members as and when required/requested.
- To undertake any other duties as and when required.
Quality System Duties and Responsibilities:
- To observe the company rules for employees.
- To read and comply with current relevant legislative documentation.
- To observe the company policy on Health & Safety at Work.
- To observe the company policy and procedures on Quality Management Systems.
- To co-operate readily, politely and amicably with other company personnel.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
Qualifications:
- City & Guilds Levels 1 & 2 or an equivalent qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- CSCS (Service & Facilities) HVACR Skills Card.
Knowledge/experience:
- Experience as Field Service Engineer desirable
- Previous experience in a maintenance environment, ideally within a medical, pharmaceutical or other process industry.
Personal qualities:
- Self-motivated.
- Flexible and able to adapt under pressure in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Genuine interest in people and be able to deal with customers in a friendly manner.
To help meet our goals of becoming CO2 neutral by 2025, we travel only if we must. In this role, you will be required to travel up to 80% to visit customer sites and company offices as necessary.
