Regulatory Counsel
Hybrid – Attached to the Solihull Office with UK Travel

£66,000 - £73,000 (dependent on experience)
Serco is recruiting a Regulatory Counsel for the UK & Europe Division. Reporting to the Senior Regulatory Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of regulatory and compliance activities within the division. This position will be instrumental in managing regulatory risks across Serco's contract base and ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory obligations.
As part of this you will:
Provide expert legal advice and guidance on regulatory compliance matters, both contentious and non-contentious, ensuring alignment with legal obligations, customer requirements and Serco's code of conduct
Collaborate with the Senior Regulatory Counsel and other stakeholders to develop, implement, and enhance Serco's legal and regulatory standards, policies and procedures across various regulatory domains
Assist in setting strategy and direction for managing regulatory investigations and proceedings, and enhancing the quality and efficiency of legal services delivery
Proactively monitor and assess changes in relevant laws, regulations, and legal procedures, and manage their impact on the UK&E Division
Manage relationships with external legal service providers, ensuring cost-effective and quality legal services are sourced for Serco UK&E
Support contracts and Subject Matter Experts during interventions by regulators and in proceedings before courts and tribunals as required
Facilitate compliance across the UK&E Division and Serco Group through training, education, and dissemination of legal and regulatory updates
Generate management information and reports on legal matters and projects for key stakeholders within Serco
What you’ll need to do the role:
Qualified lawyer with ideally 2-4 years post-qualified regulatory compliance experience
Demonstrated commitment to ethical and professional standards
Experience working in a confidential and fast-paced environment
Familiarity with public sector contracts is preferable
Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills
Ability to identify and address issues, problems, and opportunities effectively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of contract and commercial law principles
Attention to detail and proficiency in technical drafting
Proven track record of influencing stakeholders and making sound business decisions
Ability to manage a demanding workload with a positive attitude
Creative problem-solving skills
