HMP Dovegate is a Category B adult male facility near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. Serco cares for up to 1060 male adult prisoners over the age of 21 serving a range of sentences including trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving long and short term sentences.
HMP Dovegate has the UK’s only privately run purpose-built therapeutic facility. The therapy offered helps offenders stop their pattern of offending.
We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Distance Learning Administrator to coordinate the day-to-day operations of distance learning programs and schedule courses at HMP Dovegate. The successful candidate will work closely with Tutors and the Library Team to ensure that full support is provided, and monthly data is completed in relation to Retention, Success, and Achievements.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of distance learning programs
- Schedule courses, taking into account all security restrictions and operational requirements
- Work closely with Tutors and the Library Team to ensure full support is provided
- Complete monthly data in relation to Retention, Success, and Achievements
- Take full responsibility for the Distance Learning Classroom, including IT facilities
- Ensure regular and supportive one-to-one/group contact with all prisoners undertaking this method of study
- Monitor and access all prisoner web pages
- Liaison with other prisons on transfer to ensure prisoners can continue with Distance Learning Programmes
- Arrange for prisoners to continue with studies upon release
- Responsibly arrange and fully supervise any external visitors to support prisoners' studies
- Attend any other departmental meetings as required
- Maintain links and information exchange with appropriate partnerships
- Undertake other duties as directed by senior management
What you will need to do the role
- University entrance experience
- Experience of administration within higher education courses
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively
- Strong IT skills
