Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Contracts Manager to provide commercial contracts expertise and support throughout the contract lifecycle, embedding good commercial contracts management within the Defence Business Unit (BU).
Reporting directly to the Commercial Contracts Director, you will work closely with colleagues within the Business Unit and wider Commercial Contracts team and legal function to support sustainable growth and enhanced profitability, whilst also ensuring that the BU’s contractual and commercial risk profile is managed to an acceptable level.
As part of this you’ll:
- Provide proactive and high-quality commercial expertise across a portfolio of in life contracts and new business opportunities
- Identify and appropriately manage contractual and commercial risks and issues
- Lead negotiations and resolution of key contractual issues with customers, partners, SPVs and key subcontractors throughout the contract lifecycle
- Effective management of all material contract changes and preparation of related customer and subcontractor documentation and correspondence
- Attendance at relevant governance meetings and in-life contract reviews
- Identifying and implementing process improvements and efficiencies within portfolio
- Providing commercial and contractual expertise during end of contract exit and transition activities
- Mentoring/management of junior team members including supporting development initiatives
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Relevant professional qualification with experience in a commercial contracts role preferably in an outsourced services environment
- Experience of contracting with UK MoD
- Experience of working with maritime/marine services contracts desirable
- Good understanding of commercial contract management and complex contractual constructs
- Demonstrable experience of balancing commercial, technical and legal requirements to achieve successful outcomes with acceptable risk profiles
- Good negotiation skills with an ability to adopt robust commercial positions whilst maintaining trusted, respected and effective relationships
- Ability to build strong relationships across a diverse community of stakeholder at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to think strategically and balance strategic and short-term priorities and objectives
- SC clearance or the ability to achieve it
