Job Title: Driver
Address: Clapham Depot
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Working Hours: - 40 hours per week, 12-hour shift patterns 4 days on 4 days off
Salary: £26,036.66 per annum + Excellent Benefits
London's public bike sharing scheme is available 24/7, 365 days a year. There are more than 12,300 bikes, 500 ebikes and over 800 bike docking stations across London to help you get around quickly and easily. The scheme recently expanded to Southwest London so now you can saddle up anywhere from Shepherds Bush to Canary Wharf and Wandsworth Town to Camden Town.
You will be the public face of Serco’s London Cycle Hire team in the community, representing the business in a very positive way and interacting with members of the public in a friendly and approachable manner.
As the Redistribution Driver you will drive across London redistributing Santander Bicycles to increase customer hires and to collect Bicycles for Service and Repair to return to the depots. In addition, work with team leaders to battery manage the active eBikes on the scheme, ensuring these are charged and available to hire for customers. You will also work with Control Centre colleagues to ensure the maximum number of Bicycles can be collected and redistributed each shift, minimising lost time, and providing great service for Londoners.
This is a role that is vital to the success of the Cycle Hire Scheme, and we are looking for candidates that take great pride in their work and are committed to being the best ambassadors for the Cycle Hire Service. Our Redistribution Drivers directly contribute to making London a greener place to live and visit and are responsible for making sure our bikes are safe for all to use, so it is important that you are able to take that responsibility seriously and are a considerate and courteous driver.
You won’t be doing this alone either. Our team is made up of professional, friendly, and supportive teammates, including managers who began their careers with Serco as On Street and Redistribution Operatives who now hold Team Leader, Operations Manager and Contract Manager titles.
We are dedicated to the ongoing development and career progression of our On Street Mobile Operatives, with outstanding training opportunities made available to you, along with the chance to undertake additional qualifications. These include, but are not limited to, Health & Safety courses, Team Leader and Management training and a supportive management team who will provide guidance and advice to ensure you achieve all that you want to with Serco.
What do I need to do the role?
To be considered for a position within our team, you will have excellent customer service skills, experience of driving around the London area and a full UK Manual driving licence that you have held for at least 1 year. A driving assessment will take place if you pass your interview.
We are looking to hear from candidates who will go the extra mile for our customers, answering queries patiently and politely and can be the public face of the London Cycle Hire Scheme.
At times, we may ask you to assist our On Street Mobile Operative teams with on foot and bicycle patrols to collect and return abandoned bikes so it would be preferred that candidates are flexible and willing to undertake additional duties.
Previous experience of working within the Micromobilty sector is not essential as we will provide any additional training you may need.
Please note, this position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
