At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. Serco proudly support the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet.
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Transport team here at Brize Norton as a Vehicle Training Instructor. You will deliver training to service personnel, civil servants and contractors on various airfield platforms, material handling equipment and general service vehicles, which includes all pre and post course administration.
Main accountabilities:
- Deliver training as allocated by the Lead Instructor.
- Administration of all driver training.
- Carry out ‘check drives’ after a DTB accident or incident.
- Deliver initial, continuation and familiarisation training of all drivers on respective vehicles.
- Ensure all Company Policies and Directives relating to Road Transport and Dangerous Goods are fully complied with.
- Raising of all training records and updating FMT600s or MyDrive accounts on completion of training.
- Update the Transport training database and compile monthly stats.
- Complete and record all annual Blacktop equipment training.
- Training and certification of vehicle marshallers.
- Undertake introductory brief, including HSAW, for all students, ensuring they are in possession of the relevant PPE.
- Undertake driving tasks when not delivering training.
- Create a Safety-first culture, ensuring all activities reflect this core value with no compromise.
- Drive the most cost-effective undertaking of tasks whilst maintaining exceptional levels of safety and quality “Zero Harm” culture with open honest reporting of Near Misses and safety related occurrences.
- Develop and drive continuous improvement culture, with focus on improving efficiency
- Reporting relevant KPI's to the Serco Transport Manager and ensuring they adhered to across the department
- Ensure compliance with the Serco Management System, ISO9000, ISO14001, ISO18001, HASAW Act 1974 and COSHH regulations.
What you'll need to do the role:
- Full Driving Licence CAT B & C (D1 desirable)
- DCPC Licence for respective licences held (will be provided if needed)
- Hold a colour perception category of the required standard to enable the issue of an Airfield Driving Permit.
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training or MoD equivalent (Defence Workplace Trainer)
- Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office
- Strong Communication skills
