Senior Surface Finish Technician

Serco have a new and exciting role at RAF Wittering. You’ll join the team as a Senior Surface Finish Technician and will be responsible for the delivery and supervision of Surface Finish in a wide range of tasks, which include surface preparation (abrading, paint stripping, DMS/PMS abrasive blasting masking, cleaning and pre-treatment), and the application of associated finishes on all MoD assets. You’ll be required to manage teams and SF Tech 1 supervisors, whilst on shift and provide Quality Assurance checks on all tasks undertaken within their area of responsibility.
Main accountabilities:
- The overall leadership and management of the personnel
- Ensure that all work undertaken is authorised by the ACT Contract Monitoring Team (CMT)
- Ensure that correct trade practices are employed and a high standard of workmanship is maintained
- Ensure the appropriate Health and Safety aspects of the trade are strictly adhered to and to ensure that COSHH and Risk Assessments are complied with.
- Develop and maintain a network of senior relationships within the station customer base
- Provide leadership to the business such that employees understand and have input to plans
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Appropriate experience as a RAF Painter and Finisher tradesman (NCO level) or time served civilian equivalent (management) in the trade of Aircraft/Automotive Body shop Painter.
- NVQ 3 in Aeronautical Engineering (Surface Finish pathway) or equivalent qualification.
- Full driving licence is desirable
