As the Auditor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering an effective annual audit timetable that supports all functions within HMP Fosse Way. Your role is critical in ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual obligations, treating prisoners humanely, and creating a safe, secure, and rehabilitative environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the Self-Audit Programme based on a local risk assessment of standards
- Coordinating the work required to fulfill the audit program
- Providing quality assurance on all aspects of the self-audit process
- Managing the administration of rectification of non-compliance alongside the Governance, Audit and Compliance Coordinator
- Undertaking agreed internal audit activities and providing written reports and associated action plans
- Contributing to successful external visits within the remit of responsibility, for example, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons (HMIP)
- Building and maintaining professional working relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to HMPPS, Measuring the Quality of Prison Life (MQPL), and Independent Monitoring Board (IMB)
- Completing management checks of all areas across the establishment and providing written reports to the SMT
- Maintaining and updating the Performance Improvement Plan, ensuring that it is kept up to date at all times
- Contributing to the delivery and achievement of all performance measures, contract outcomes, and locally agreed targets, including KPIs/CDI
- Ensuring operational and administrative duties, including the collection and maintenance of data, are completed by Prison policies and procedures
- Complying with all policies, procedures, and legislation applicable
- Reporting all workplace grievances to your line Manager and resolving them by the applicable Dispute Resolution Procedures

In addition, you will be required to:
- Identify health, safety, and environmental hazards within your working environment and report them immediately to the appropriate delegate or manager
- Understand and comply with any legally binding health and safety regulations relevant to your working environment
- Take an active interest in your development, understanding, and implementation of relevant, necessary, or desired practices established by Serco or any legal party relevant to Serco
- Identify areas where improvements can be made and prevent further problems
