£85,000 - £95,000 (dependent on experience)
Here at Serco, we are seeking a talented Strategic Bids Architect to lead the technology solution development in complex, strategic bids. You will be an integral part of the bid team and will ensure the overall technology component of the solution is aligned to operational solution, while also keeping a balance between standard solutions and new innovative solution components, to deliver a cost competitive, winning proposition for Serco. You will also bring strong experience in applications and operational technology, as well as systems integration and service design/integration.
In this key role you will work closely with the UK&E Growth team to ensure the digital technology elements of solutions are addressed appropriately with early involvement in shaping the solution. This includes the selection and governance of strategic partners and suppliers. It is key that you understand not just the IT needs of solutions but also the overall impact of proposed technologies on the Serco win chance on bids, and ensuring the solution is cost-competitive, financially viable and risk managed.
As part of this you’ll:
- Lead on the technology solution development for strategic bids to ensure the solutions are cost-competitive, risk optimised and deliver a winning proposition for Serco, while being aligned with Serco’s Enterprise Architecture and IT Strategy
- Provide systems engineering and service design support on strategic bids to ensure the appropriate flow down of requirements to technology partners and vendors
- Act as the Design Authority for solutions elements on strategic bids that are developed and delivered by technology partners and vendors
- Provide architectural guidance and leadership to the IT Senior/Solution Architects and Technical Delivery team on strategic bids to ensure delivery is in line with the sector roadmap designs
- Explain technical issues and IT solution strategies to Business Unit stakeholders and other IT professionals as required in support of solutions
- Identify and mitigate existing business risk or risks associated with solution architecture on strategic bids
- Propose modifications and enhancements to the Serco Enterprise Architecture based on experience gained on bids
What you’ll need to do the role:
- A thorough understanding of bid architecture and systems integration
- Effective communication skills to convey complex technical details to clients in a straightforward manner
- Strong relationship building skills with clients/operational managers and colleagues
- Ability to identify technical issues and be able to design solutions to fix them
- Flexibility in making plans and program decisions
- Experience of working in a technical design authority role
- Experience in technical management of vendors and partners on complex systems integration projects
- Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks and best practices
- Experience in cost modelling and building business/investment cases
- Experience in writing proposal documents in a customer-facing environment
- UK SC clearance or willingness to obtain clearance is needed
