HMP Ashfield is an adult male sex offender prison based in the village of Pucklechurch in Gloucestershire.
Here at Serco, we’re looking for a Head of Psychological Services manager to join our innovative psychological services team at HMP Ashfield.
The Job Opportunity
As a Principal Psychologist, you will have overall responsibility for governance, delivery o and strategic leadership of the Psychological Services in HMP Ashfield.
This includes working as part of the Senior Management Team at HMP Ashfield under the management of the Director of Psychological Services in Serco and the Prison Director. You’ll be providing management and delivery of Psychological Services ensuring that psychological work is compliant with the BPS and HCPC codes of conduct.
The job holder will largely excel risk assessment and be a specialist in the specific area of working with people convicted of sexual offences. The jobholder will have responsibility for the key specialist tasks involved in the delivery of offending behaviour programmes for people convicted of sexual offences or related individual case management which would also entail overseeing the quality of delivery and supervision. They will also have responsibility providing direction and clinical decision making over Psychology Parole Report directions.
The successful postholder will be working with complex prisoners and prison staff and applying their experience and competence in psychology to reduce the risk of harm and re-offending by undertaking complex risk assessment of prisoners, conducting research, providing consultancy and delivering training for staff and interventions (individual and group) for prisoners.
What we are looking for in our candidates
Essential:
The job holder will be Chartered with the BPS and Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC. Must have significant experience post-qualification.
As Head of Psychological Services, they will have experience of managing teams at a senior level and the ability to strategically lead and develop the delivery of psychology services. The post holder must have experience of supervising Forensic Psychologists in Training.
They must have experience of delivering and managing accredited Offending Behaviour Programmes and a proven track record in achieving KPTs.
As the Head of Psychosocial Services, they will develop strategies for the prison and should have experience of consulting to colleagues on the Senior Management Team SMT colleagues to bring psychological theory to prison practice and evidence-based working with different populations of prisoners.
It is important they have experience of conducting a range of Psychological assessments including PCL-r, WAIS, SARA, HCR20, SRA, RSVP, as well as experience of audits.
Finally, they must be able to evidence at least five years’ experience working within a forensic environment.
