Role: Technical Support engineer.

 

Salary & Benefits: Salary £40,995 to £51,244 per annum dependant on experience, company car through company car lease scheme, annual bonus, attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution), life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave, bank holidays, plus a wellness day and development opportunities in line with the Technical Support Engineer progression plan. Location: We currently have two 12-month opportunities (Secondment/FTC) for Technical Support Engineers to join our Water Production & Maintenance department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you? The roles will be covering Wakefield and Sheffield area. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance these areas.

 

Work type: Temporary-12 months FTC/Secondment. 37 hours per week. Please note that once fully trained, you will be required to participate in a regional standby rota, therefore flexibility is essential for this role.

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will provide technical support to the Product and Process Manager and the Process Engineers working across the asset base. You will support the team to ensure that it meets and exceeds its targets and critical business performance measures. You will deliver world class asset and operational excellence across all area assets in pursuit of health and safety excellence; regulatory compliance; zero customer impact; operational efficiency and business plan out performance. 

 

Where you fit in:

As our Technical Support Engineer, you will

  • Plan, organise and manage complex operational activities onsite to deliver both reactive and proactive workload.
  • Provide both technical supports, coaching and guidance to the Process Engineers, Resource Engineers, Process Assistants and Plant Assistants in their delivery of the operational management and maintenance of the asset base.
  • Act as a key liaison between Operations and other key internal departments e.g., Engineering Reliability and Asset Management
  • Verify and investigate all asset performance shortfalls using the company RCA approach, ensuring that any risks are captured for capital funding as required.
  • Support the Product and Process Manager to ensure that optimised asset maintenance standards and procedures, performance monitoring and analysis processes are in place and fully utilised to support asset management.
  • Complete internal process Audits raising appropriate actions and improvement plans.
  • Assist with regulatory and external audits as and when required.
  • Resolve high priority, complex and emergency problems as well as driving performance to achieve Balanced Scorecard and financial performance.

 

What skills, experience and qualifications you will need:

 

  • Experience of Health and Safety management processes and systems
  • Experience of understanding where your role fits within a business plan and then developing ways to deliver the outputs.
  • Developing and maintaining effective internal and external relationships.
  • Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
  • Technical understanding of water treatment plants and processes
  • Analytical and fault diagnosis of water treatment processes
  • Experience of delivering continual improvement in a process / production environment
  • Experience in incident management and asset failure recovery.
  • Sound Influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Rigorous attention to detail to ensure ‘right first time’ performance.
  • Proficient In the use of IT.
