Job Descrption

Salary & Benefits: Salary from £45,454 per annum dependent on experience, a company car lease/allowance scheme, annual incentive related bonus (up to 10% of annual salary), private health care, attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution), life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a wellness day. Location:  Bradford/ Hybrid Working. Travel across the Yorkshire region is a key part of this role

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between a working window of 8:00m-6:00pm

We have an exciting opportunity within Yorkshire Water for a Bathing Water Partnership and Engagement Manager. This is a key role ensuring that Yorkshire Water play their part in continuing to improve Bathing Water in Yorkshire. 

 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in partnership with other organisations to improve and maintain Bathing Water Quality standards in Yorkshire. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Yorkshire Water and our Partners to identify, scope and delivery opportunities to improve bathing water quality. You’ll join the team at an exciting time as we grow and develop our team to meet the opportunities and challenges posed by the increase in inland bathing water applications and the new targets of AMP8. You’ll play a pivotal role in fast paced and dynamic team.

Where you fit in:


As our Bathing Water Partnership & Engagement Manager you will work with our key partners and stakeholders, you will act as the main link to other organisations and forums who have a role to improve bathing water quality to achieve regulatory, legislative and partnership agreed targets on behalf of customers. 

 

You will coordinate the activity of a cross functional team to create plans and interventions to ensure improvements to existing designated bathing waters. You will also create and agree the strategy for future inland designations. 

 

You will drive other organisations to collectively work together to produce and deliver multi-agency action plans so that the overall impact from these achieves bathing water improvements and targets. 

 

Key accountabilities of the role include - 

 

• Delivering regulatory and performance requirements and, striving to deliver outperformance against the revised Bathing Water Directive in line with existing and future performance commitments. 
• Horizon scanning for regulatory changes that will impact bathing waters and understanding changes to performance commitments and business risk 
• Work closely with key internal and external stakeholders on future bathing water applications and strategies for these 
• Working with, and holding key partners to account in creating and delivering multi-agency action plans 
• Leading on Yorkshire Water’s Bathing Water investment plans to drive continued improvement 
• Own the role of Data Manager for Annual Reporting for Bathing Waters, providing assurance to the business around performance 
• Providing written and verbal updates to the Executive and governance forums as required on risks and opportunities 
• Driving excellent standards and performance in Health and Safety risk management and control of work and ensure compliance with Yorkshire Water's Safety Policy 
• Ensuring that team reporting of activity is in ‘real time’ and drives efficiencies for improvements to asset base by pro-active interventions and planning activity with wider operational teams 
• Working closely with all departments to ensure performance shortfalls are investigated, understood and supporting mitigation as necessary 
• Ensuring robust financial management and commercial awareness form the foundation for business decision making relating to role goals and targets; this includes management of bathing water budget, finding opportunities for match funding to maximise impact 
• Have assurance procedures in place to have confidence that routine and reactive operations are being carried our effectively. 
• Support the delivery of periodic review strategy relating to Bathing Water Quality and asset base 

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with multiple stakeholders, influencing and driving delivery of performance improvements. You will be confident in leading teams in a dynamic, changing environment. 


You will have previous knowledge and experience of Health and Safety management process and systems.

 

You will analyse and interpret data and be comfortable in interrogating corporate reporting systems to report back on bathing water compliance across all levels of the business.

 

You will carry out and support investigations into asset/process failure – identifying failure modes and recommending mitigation/improvements to prevent repeats.

 

You will have previous water industry experience and knowledge. An understanding of the Revised Bathing Water Directive and impacts on bathing water quality would be desirable.
