What you’ll do

The purpose of the Finance team is to drive performance through gathering, interpreting and communication of knowledge. In addition, the finance team is the guardian of corporate assets and secures the appropriate governance, compliance, and controls. Securing the highest integrity of accounting, reporting and payments is also a foundation within the scope of the finance team.

The purpose of this role is twofold:

  1. Implement structured and business led analysis of sales and margin performance.
  2. Control and optimize a significant and varied operating cost base of c. £100m for Volvo Car UK. The role proactively advises the business to manage costs, optimize value and balance stakeholder interests within the company’s operating costs.

Your key deliverables will include:

FP&A

  • Act as a key player in a thought leadership capacity, providing accurate & insightful performance analysis on Sales and Margin
  • Develop and implement performance analyses as required by management
  • Build robust relationships across commercial teams, finance, and accounting

Costs

  • Business partner broad range of stakeholders up to director level, providing counsel and enabling decision making withing governance limits
  • Cost base oversight and control (Fleet costs, Marketing, Selling, General & Administration) – actuals, budget, forecasts
  • Create and prepare monthly costs reporting accurately with relevant commercial commentary, presenting to the CFO, and senior department heads
  • Overall cost centre management including management of and working with Digital teams to develop Powerbi tools
  • Purchase Order approvals


What you’ll bring

The successful candidate will have: 

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA) with strong PQE experience, including senior FP&A expertise.
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and advanced Excel financial modelling
  • Innovative problem-solving abilities and commercial acumen
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with professionalism.
  • Good commercial and business acumen has business partnered previously.

Strong communicator able to communicate and influence at differing levels

  • Plans and anticipates, strong time management / prioritisation skills.
  • Manages expectations with ease.
  • Sets high standards on process expectations and maintains principles.
  • Ability to take initiative and not wait for instructions.
  • Ability to be proactive, challenge status-quo and look at things differently.
  • High integrity and ability to speak your mind.
  • Able to work under pressure

We would love it if you also had the following skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in the automotive industry
  • Experience of SAP ECC, SAP S4 Hana, Hyperion Finance Manager
  • Experience of Powerbi development, creating and maintaining excel macros
