Tire Mechanics Test Engineer - Engineer Associate. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Akron, OH. Support product development through assessment/benchmarking of the performance of tire/vehicle systems through modeling, testing, and simulation. Provide recommendations for tire characteristics and tire design tuning to meet wear performance objectives through laboratory reports and presentations. Support Technology Development programs through development of new tire/vehicle test and simulation capabilities, and enhancement of our predictive technologies using the latest data analysis tools in conjunction with up-to-date data science methods. Investigate tire/vehicle performance assessment process for effectiveness and efficiency in both product or technology release decisions and new standards. Oversee operation of lab which includes prioritizing tests in collaboration with internal teams and lead Engineers, providing technicians with daily direction related to test parameters and ensuring maintenance and calibration schedules are adhered to. Maintain lab documentation on test and analysis procedures. Support automation software development through validation, optimization, and implementation.
Need MS degree (or foreign equiv.) in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related.
Need 12 mos. exp. as Graduate Research Assistant, Design Engineer Intern, Design Engineer or related role supporting design for the automotive industry; 12 months of lab management experience; 12 months of experience with advanced Matlab programming skills with ability to use and modify matlab GUIs; 12 months of experience designing new experiments in a laboratory environment; Completion of at least three master-level courses in advanced mathematics, polymers and tire mechanics.
