Job Summary

Our modern manufacturing facility at Western Approach is an International Centre of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production, manufacturing composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world's most popular aircrafts.

As a Team Leader, you will have full accountability for all aspects of operational performance, whilst ensuring that we deliver our People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost (PSQDCC) targets. Reporting into a Group Leader you will be an integral part of our Operations team, helping us deploy our Lean Operating Model.

Job Responsibilities

  • Creating and sustaining a culture that is aligned to the GKN Aerospace 'A Great Place To Work' value drivers and Culture Principles by role-modelling behaviours, motivating, encouraging and recognising the contribution of individuals and teams.
  • Holding Team Members and Team Leaders accountable to embody the GKNA culture principles
  • Being Open and Honest when appraising and managing individuals' performance whilst supporting and coaching individuals to close performance gaps
  • Providing opportunities for Team Members to play to their strengths; do what they do best and create on-going opportunities for learning and personal development
  • Exemplifying a safety-first mindset and ensuring that the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards are applied and that your assigned areas are a model of a world class healthy and safe working environment
  • Leading and developing your team to understand the context, mechanics and the delivery of PSQDCC targets to meet customer and stakeholder commitments
  • Driving the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model (LOM) across your assigned area
  • Being actively involved in problem solving and the management system using a 'Go to Gemba' approach to solve problems with the ambition that 95% of issues can be solved within the zone itself
  • Contributing to the Value Stream future state design, and ensuring its execution across your assigned area
  • Cooperating with other Team Leaders to ensure the best performance outcomes for the entire area
  • Holding the functional support staff accountable for adhering to the Global standards and enabling your zone team to meet its targets

Essential

  • Excellent performance as a Team member, demonstrating rigorous adherence to standardised work.
  • Demonstrable ability to work with various stakeholders
  • Potential to lead, engage, train and develop direct reports
  • An effective communicator and an influential team member
  • Good standard of English language; both oral and written

Desirable

  • Self-motivated by meeting and exceeding PSQDCC performance targets
  • Previous experience within a Managerial/Team Leader role
  • Inside knowledge of the aerospace industry
