The role
As an Armoury Mechanic you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Ensuring the completion of day-to-day armament tasks within their trade boundary in compliance with current policy, processes and principles laid down in various MoD publications and accredited civilian equivalents.
Day-to-day, you’ll carry out all non-technical tasks associated with explosives, ammunition and prohibited weapons. The following tasks are to be undertaken but not limited to:
- Issue, receipt, and safe storage of prohibited weapons to service personnel and our parented customers.
- Post firing and before use non-technical functional checks on prohibited weapons in support of the armament workshop technicians.
- Strip, assembly, and function testing for normal daily cleaning of all prohibited weapons.
- Preparation of prohibited weapon ancillaries and associated equipment in support of scheduled issues both on and off site
This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Shawbury
Essential experience of the Armoury Mechanic:
- Recognised experience in the management, storage, accountancy and safe handling procedures of prohibited weapons and ammunition.
Qualifications for the Armoury Mechanic
- Driving license.
