The role
As a Director of Finance, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary, partnering with the Program Director and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll head up a small team and take responsibility for all aspects of the contract accounting, reporting and governance.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead and oversee the growth agenda for Skynet and the Space market. Within the bounds of governance controls, delegated authorities and oversight that form company policy across contracts, you will be given autonomy to lead the area in the way you see fit.
- Own financial information for forecasting, budget, and monthly contract performance
- Providing the leadership team with meaningful and accurate information that empowers them to drive financial performance and be producing meaningful and accurate financial reports
- Management and oversight of contractual change, whilst ensuring absolute financial reporting accuracy and compliance in reporting
- Collaborating with the leadership and wider project team, you will assist them with their understanding of financial issues, so they are equipped to foresee financial risks before they arise and take pre-emptive mitigating action
- Support all Business Winning activities as required to ensure that risks are identified, quantified, and mitigated against during the bid submission process
This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and requires regular travel to Wiltshire and other Bristol sites on a weekly alongside home working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Director of Finance
- Long-term contract accounting within the Defence/Service industry
- Understanding contract change management process and International Financial Standards etc
- Understanding key drivers and dependencies across functions to deliver accurate, reliable, and sustainable project performance
- Excellent listening and communication skills, utilising them to understand requirements and tasking influencing others around them. Ability to challenge and influence at an Executive level
- Be able to articulate and present financial issues to both finance and non-finance audiences in a clear concise way. A critical thinker who can understand complex issues, using insight/dataand their judgement to make good decisions and have a positive impact
Qualifications for the Director of Finance
- Fully qualified accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
