The role
As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock is establishing a new “Safe to Operate” team at HMNB Clyde. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to join this team.
“Safe to Operate” means having safe and compliant infrastructure, assets and equipment and in conjunction with appropriate processes, and suitably qualified and experienced personnel, can deliver our operations and outputs and meet the requirements of the customer.
Day to day, you’ll provide Quality Assurance support to the Infrastructure Directorate and its associated supply chain and projects ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
• To deliver business area support in the form of BMS governance, non-conformance management, organisational change management and improvement advice.
• Working with other specialists in “Safe to Operate” team.
• Attending technical and organisational meetings on behalf of Babcock associated with issues affecting “Safe to Operate” as required and provide advice both written and verbal.
• Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time and quality requirements.
• Implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the Quality area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and will be based at our Faslane site with hybrid working from home arrangements available.
Essential experience of the Quality Assurance Engineer:
• An experienced Quality Assurance engineer working with a high level of developed knowledge
• Be able to work on a range of engineering, process and quality management issues involving varied levels of complexity
• Knowledge of Quality Management & Quality Assurance practices as well as Quality Management tools and techniques
Qualifications for the Quality Assurance Engineer:
• ISO 9001 & ISO 14001
• HNC in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
