The role
As a Production Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable, and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operation in a high threat environment.
Day to day, you’ll be responsible for guiding and leading a team of supervisors and multi-disciplined operators overseeing the completion of ships compartments which includes the fitting and installing of electrical systems, HVAC, insulation and painting.
- You will lead the team by example, demonstrating Babcock’s principles when leading and managing teams.
- You will monitor all work progress again pre-set plans and ensure all work is carried out within contractual requirements.
- Ensure the Ship Manager is briefed on any issues or changes that may influence the ships progress.
- Manage the Health and Safety of all employees and visitors within a zero-tolerance health and safety culture.
This role is full time and permanent position at 37 hours per week and will be based onsite at our Rosyth Dockyard site.
Essential experience of the Production Manager:
- Experience of supervising and managing multi-disciplined teams with a diverse skill set such as Welders, Fabricators and Pipe Fitters.
- Knowledge and experience of mechanical systems, equipment installation and outfitting.
- Ideally you will come from a ship building background however, candidates from other highly regulated and heavy industries will be considered such as Oil and Gas.
Qualifications for the Production Manager:
- Time served or ONC or HNC within Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication or Welding is desirable however, we value difference and don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience then we would like to hear from you.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS and SC security clearance for this role.
