The role
As a Communications Operator, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll have the opportunity to work in a leading defence company maintaining the security of the country.
Day to day, you’ll:
- Operate all applicable site equipment to maintain continuity of military communications
- Monitor and report asset status
- Maintain communications when faults occur
- Assist in first line maintenance of communications systems
- Maintain accurate records for all operational and engineering occurrences
This role is full time on a shift basis and will be based onsite in Harrogate. The shift pattern will consist of two twelve-hour day shifts and two twelve-hour night shifts per week.
Essential experience of the Communications Operator:
- Basic record of proven ability in the role of the Communications Operator
- Requires good self-motivation
- Real time decision making and problem-solving ability
- Sound knowledge of vagaries of high frequency propagation and frequency management
- Understanding and ability to work a desktop computer particularly MS products
Qualifications for the Communications Operator:
- ONC/NVQ or 'A' Level in a science or technical subjects or relevant experience
Please note that this position is subject to enhanced national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining SC, NNPPI or Developed Vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
