The role

 

As a Payroll Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main MEH, cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s two thousand five hundred rooms.

 

Day to day, you will hold overall responsibility for ensuring that all the payroll processes are applied consistently and that the MEH weekly paid workforce are paid correctly, amongst managing relationships between MEH Payroll Teams and the delivery partners.

 

  • Creates and maintains the MEH Payroll manual
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all stakeholders, internal to MEH, within the delivery partners, the recognised trade unions and the client 
  • Develops an SLA with KPIs for time to respond to queries, etc 
  • Develops a suite of auto generated reports from Kronos, to support the Construction Director, Workforce Manager, HR Manager to effectively manage timekeeping issues on a proactive basis 
  • Provide metrics and dashboards to support the Head of HR in demonstrating the effectiveness of the MEH Payroll team and systems 
  • Supports MEH, delivery partners in payroll related IR Issues providing info as required

 

This role is a full-time permanent role at thirty-seven hours per week with the option of a hybrid and/or a nine-day fortnight working arrangement after an initial period and will be based at Hinkley Point C near Bridgwater. 

 

Essential experience of the Payroll Manager:

 

  • Strong / demonstrable experience as a Payroll Manager
  • Experience of unionised sites and engaging with trade unions
  • IT Skills, incl. MS Suite, e.g. excellent Excel and data analysis  
  • Experience with Kronos is highly desirable 
  • Previous experience working in Engineering Construction or with National Agreements, such as NAECI, JIB, etc (desirable)

 

Qualifications for the Payroll Manager:

 

  • HNC / HND or equivalent experience plus competency-based assessment / interview
