The role
As a Training and Competency Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a unique opportunity to join a developing team. As the Manager you will have the ability to shape and direct the vision of the commissioning capability team for all classes of submarines at Devonport.
Day to day, reporting to the Commissioning Capability Manager you’ll be required to ensure the Submarine Commissioning Group personnel have the required level of training and competency to meet the needs of the Commissioning Group activities.
Implementation and standardisation of the documentation and records used by all levels and areas of commissioning to record and demonstrate training and experience.
Liaising with other parts of the business e.g. early careers, and wider enterprise partners to ensure a holistic approach to capability development.
Working closely with the Commissioning Capability Manager to identify opportunities to enhance and develop the vision for improving the Commissioning Group competency levels.
You will be responsible for the overall oversight of training material development for the Commissioning Group.
This role is full time, 36 hours based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Essential experience of the Training and Competency Manager:
Experience and knowledge of capability and development management and administration.
An ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders, coordinating and integrating data and information.
You can lead a team and work independently.
You will have excellent organisational / administrative skills and be computer literate.
You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and formal written correspondence.
Qualifications for the Training and Competency Manager:
HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline with membership of appropriate institution preferred.
Educational or training qualifications - Desirable
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
