The role
As an IT Service Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Acting as the interface between Executives, Executive Assistants and Babcock Corporate Services staff primarily based at Wigmore Street – Babcock’s Head office. Ensuring effective delivery of existing services, understanding of new requirements and the effective transition of new solutions for the business.

 

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for managing customer relationships through regular executive communication, stakeholder management and customer site meetings and participating in service transition activities to ensure customers’ expectations are managed effectively throughout the transition process and understanding how change affects the customer. Other responsibilities include:

  • Working with the other Babcock Corporate Services teams to help create proposals for identified opportunities, bids and operational requirements 
  • Producing project briefs, software requests and minor works requests to meet local business requirements, ensuring all solutions are in line with sector solution standards
  • Assisting the customer with understanding the Information Systems (IS) bill and playing an active role in driving the cost effective use of IS services
  • Attending service review meetings with the customer where required or other existing forums, present and communicate IS delivery performance

 

This role is 37.5 hours per week with 3 days based on-site at Wigmore Street and 2 days flexible working.

 

Essential experience of the IT Service Manager:

  • Experience in writing reports for senior stakeholders and presenting report findings verbally
  • Experience in business analysis or requirements management 
  • Good understanding of IT and its relationship to the business
  • Experience managing IT budgets and involvement in IT commercial negotiations is desirable but not essential

 

Qualifications for the IT Service Manager:

  • PRINCE2 or an equivalent Project Management qualification would be desirable but not essential
  • ITIL qualification at foundation or practitioner level would be desirable but not essential
  • Technical qualifications i.e. Cisco, Microsoft would be desirable but not essential

 

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
