The role
As a Data Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Data Engineer is embedded in the Data Engineering Team. You will have the opportunity to work with richly grained data sets drawn from a diverse range of sources and to collaborate with a large team of Data Engineers
Day to day, you’ll work alongside Dashboard Developers, Testers, Analysts and Project Managers throughout the software development life cycle. A key part of this role is developing critical, technical solutions to support business processes within the organisation and to support updates to existing solutions. Further responsibilities include:
- You will be responsible for developing data pipeline solutions against business requirements
- You will provide guidance to other team members and participate in continuous improvement for the development process
- You will develop, manage and control data sourcing solutions based on Microsoft’s SQL Server Data and Business Intelligence Platforms.
- Design and development of data extract, transform and load applications plus support of the Babcock Data Platforms.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and the successful candidate can work compliantly from the nearest Babcock site to your contractual location.
Essential experience of the Data Engineer:
- Experience in data warehouse
- MS SQL Server BI Stack such as SSIS or an equivalent platform
- Experience with analysing reporting performance and recommending tuning improvements.
- Significant experience of gathering and documenting high quality business requirements, interacting with business stakeholders through workshops, meetings and written communication
- Proven experience of working closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to deliver robust and efficient solutions
- Administration & development of databases
- Understanding of the concepts pertaining to dimensional modelling, data warehousing techniques, methodologies, and data modelling tools
- Able to work independently with limited technical direction
- Experience in using Palantir Foundary is desirable
