The role
As a Principal Capacity Planner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a critical role in supporting the contract to manage and operate Skynet, the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) military satellite communications system. The six-year Skynet Service Delivery Wrap (SDW) contract will encompass the operation of the UK’s constellation of military satellites and ground stations, including the integration of terminals into the MOD network, ensuring they are integrated and supported.
Day to day, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the planning for frequency, bandwidth and link budget are carried out correctly by the Network Planners and that all agreed operational policies, processes, and procedures are adhered to, including but not limited to:
- Spacecraft Payload Configuration to support customer requirements.
- BFN/Zone to Transponder connectivity.
- Zone steering
- Transponder gain setting.
- UHF Frequency changes
- QoS Monitor changes.
- UHF Monitoring Request
- MAGIC Ops
This role is full-time, permanent, 37-hours per week, with a hybrid working arrangemet of two to three days working on site at either our Ashton House facility in Bristol or MOD Corsham near Chippenham.
Essential experience of the Principal Capacity Planner:
- Experience in capacity planning in Skynet systems
