The role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be working on pistols, rifles, and all other guns plus Challenger Two and Warrior vehicles.
Day to day, you will also be required to upkeep the general maintenance and repair of Military Fleet and equipment.
Carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on the job card in accordance with the customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, processes and other approved technical publications.
Diagnose, inspect and assess weapon systems, vehicles and associated mechanical / electrical / armour equipment in line with skills & competency.
Ensure all job transactions are accurately recorded and carried out in accordance with current ERP processes and that work completed and time taken to complete the job is submitted daily to the department / section Supervisor.
Completion of vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates / reports to current standards.
Ensure stores and equipment issued to job are used for their correct purpose and un-used or new faulty material is returned to the section / department Supervisor as soon as it is identified.
This role is full time, based on site at MOD Donnington, working 37 hours per week. 9 day working fortnight with every second Friday off.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter
Anyone who is gun fitter or worked in armour desirable but full training provided.
Ideally ex- service background desirable
Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter
NVQ Level 3 in a Mechanical discipline or an apprenticeship qualification
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
