The role

 

As a Procurement Specialist, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will be a part of the Engineering and Systems Integration (E&SI) team within our Land sector, responsible for managing requirements including material procurement of goods and/or services to support operational production of various platforms across the business unit.

 

Day to day, you will have accountability within a defined scope of materials and/or subcontract services, for the Supply chain design, execution, and performance for a Business Unit’s project(s).
 

  • Establishing project requirements; including those driven by the future bid pipeline
  • Design and engagement of a supply chain that meets project requirements 
  • Supporting the delivery of project objectives through the rigorous management of contract and supplier performance
  • Assuring supplier performance to time, cost and quality for contract requirements against scope of supplier responsibility
  • Procurement Specialist will have responsibility for typically £10m expenditure within the project(s) scope

 

This is a full-time permanant role at 37 hours per week based at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth. Hybrid and agile working arrangements available.

There is a requirement to travel to various Babcock sites as part of the role. 

 

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Procurement Specialist:

 

  • Proven experience in Sourcing and Procurement 
  • Experienced procurement practitioner with knowledge of current and tactical and strategic procurement techniques 
  • Understanding of contract terms and conditions and the ability to manage subcontract terms including flow-down terms from customer contracts
  • Deep understanding of planning and implementing supply arrangements, managing supplier performance and scheduling of deliveries
  • Understanding of cost models, familiarity with accounting practices, commercial audits, forecasting and valuations and supplier costing models.
  • Able to work in cross functional teams and manage stakeholders in an operational environment.

 

Qualifications for the Procurement Specialist:

 

  • Qualified to a degree level or equivalent 
  • MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications

The successful candidate must be able to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and SC security clearance for this role.
