The role
As a Senior Systems Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Creating and managing interfaces, specifications, and certificates, producing boundary views and identifying ownership across the System of Interest (SoI), Wider Systems of Interest (WSoI) and its environment. Ideally, a Senior Systems Engineer who can undertake technical management of internal and external sub-contractors with levels of delegated authority; having the ability and drive to think with a system perspective.
Day to day, The Senior Systems Engineer shall be responsible for a range of systems engineering activities which support the solution development and successful delivery of technically complex projects. This will include leading Systems engineering deliverables across the complete project lifecycle as well as providing subject matter expertise and guidance to the wider team, as well as:
- Apply model-based systems engineering for EW integration program development.
- Provide technical MBSE guidance and governance to a growing team.
- Undertake top-down system design, exploring architectural options and completing trade-off studies.
- Lead in the definition of activities in response to customer change.
- Owning and leading all requirements activities for the programme, eliciting, deriving, and managing system and sub-system requirements.
- Designing managing and maintaining the Requirements and Acceptance Data Base (RADB)
- This role is a hybrid role with 1 day per week onsite at either our Bristol or Devonport site.
Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer
- Good understanding of the v-model, waterfall and agile development lifecycles
- Expertise in MBSE processes, tools (e.g. Cameo System Modeler), and languages (e.g. SysML).
- Strong skills in requirements elicitation, negotiation, writing, analysis and management
- Systems, Software & Hardware integration experience
- Test plan, case and script development for complex systems
- Expertise in the use of IBM DOORS
- Understanding of passive/active EW detection and offensive CEMA
