The role
As a Principal SSNA AR&M Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will lead our established and high-performing SSNA AR&M team as they progress through the assessment phase of the SSNA design programme; one of the largest defence procurement programmes the UK has ever undertaken.
Day to day, you’ll be leading a team responsible for assuring that the emerging submarine design is capable of achieving the rigorous availability targets associated with it whilst also providing influence into the design teams from a reliability and maintainability perspective.
Responsibilities as Principal SSNA AR&M Engineer will include:
- Managing delivery of AR&M outputs, ensuring they are produced on time, within budget and to the appropriate quality.
- Leading on the development of AR&M processes to enable the key programme outcomes.
- Continuously developing the extant team of AR&M specialists to ensure a commitment to industry-leading practices.
- Providing a focal point into the SSNA programme for all AR&M analysis, assessment and actions.
This role is full time, 36 hours and will be based at our either our Babcock Technology Centre, Devonport Royal Dockyard, Leicester or Barrow-in-Furness site with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Essential experience of the Principal SSNA AR&M Engineer:
- Personable, professional and driven with the ability to engage in a range of projects. Working with a high level of professional knowledge, the role is part of a multi-disciplinary team that will apply your skills, both project and technical, across our support programme.
- Carrying out or supporting AR&M technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment or resolution and for design of improvements.
- Providing help and direction to team members with reference to your experience; steering/ supporting continuous improvement activity
Qualifications for the Principal SSNA AR&M Engineer:
- Qualified to minimum of a degree in a STEM discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, System, Data or Maths). Experience in lieu of formal education would be considered.
Please note that this position is subject to enhanced national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining SC, NNPPI or Developed Vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
