The role
As a Maintenance Planning Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will support the Submarine Lead in generating and maintaining through life maintenance plans, which optimise work package efficiency and submarine availability. You’ll be Working closely with relevant Subject Matter Experts across Babcock, the Royal Navy, MoD and Industry Partners
Day to day, you’ll use the new asset management tool, developed specifically for submarines, to provide a holistic view and approach to managing maintenance requirements through life. Requirements must be refined by aligning engineering activities and load levelling against programme constraints. You will also provide support to submarine programme changes and what-if scenarios.
This role is a full time and permanent position based in Babcock Technology Centre, Bristol Business Park, Stoke Gifford, Bristol, with occasional travel to other sites in the Bristol area. We work on an agile/flexible model so you’ll have the opportunity to work from home and have flexible start and finish times when appropriate.
Experience of the Maintenance Planning Engineer:
• Awareness of ship or submarine maintenance planning and/or execution – Desirable
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to produce technical reports and recommendations
• Willingness to work toward continuous professional development
• Strong IT skills and experience in analysing data through Excel, or similar computer programmes
Qualifications for the Maintenance Planning Engineer:
• Degree qualified in a relevant engineering based discipline (OR) HNC/HND (OR) demonstrable relevant experience
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
