The role
As a NSI Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your role will include providing support to Senior B&C Engineer (TCA) and TCA Manager in conducting inspections on the building and civil engineering aspects of Nuclear Safety Implicated (NSI) and non-NSI facilities across the site.
Day to day, you’ll also provide support to the Senior B&C Engineer (TCA) and TCA Manager in implementing all non-nuclear safety implicated (Non NSI) implicated (Non NSI) B&CE/Structural design requests for HMNB Clyde in line with NNSI TCA processes & policy.
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining the design intent of all systems to ensure they are safe to operate from a design
• Assist the TCA Senior B&C Engineer and TCA Manager in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the section’s resource
• Implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the NSI Engineering area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices. (AC17)
• Assess and evaluate findings from inspections taking appropriate action to manage defects and/or any additional work to maintain the integrity of the facilities.
This role is full time/ 37 hours per week and will be based at our Faslane site. The position includes hybrid working with 2 days per week spent on site (during inspections) and 3 days from home and reduced hours on a Friday.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met.
Essential experience of the NSI Engineer
• Knowledge of Building and Civil Engineer
• Planning procedures and processes experience
• Maintenance management & Diving procedures and processes experience
• Chartered Engineer – or working towards - is desirable but not essential
Qualifications for the NSI Engineer
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is desirable
• Minimum of HND in engineering discipline essential
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
