The role
As a Lifting and Slinging Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a pivotal part by overseeing lifting operations, representing the M&MRO management team, and ensuring compliance with legislation and Babcock policy.
You'll take the lead in planning, executing, and documenting lifting operations, emphasizing adherence to regulations. Your expertise is crucial in maintaining safe practices during operations, advising on best practices, and ensuring shop floor operatives follow established processes.
Day to day you will:
Prepare lift plans and method statements prior to conducting complex lifts
Carry out and review risk assessments
Plan, conduct and/or oversee complex lifting operations
Train and mentor shop floor operatives to carry out safe lifting operations
Main point of contact for insurance inspections; maintaining inspection certification and records
Operate a lifting equipment store and satellite equipment points at the Bristol site
This position involves mostly onsite work with flexibility of occasional days working from home.
Essential experience of the Lifting and Slinging Specialist
Proven track record of operating safe systems of work for lifting and slinging operations
Hold an Appointed Person Qualification (preferably CPCS or NPORS competent with relevant NVQ and experience)
Experience in slinging / rigging
Experience in lifting equipment thorough examinations
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC clearance level for this role.
