The role
As an Autonomy Capability Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll draw together the medium- and longer-term aspirations of customers for autonomous aviation systems and the evolving technologies. Working across Babcock to build a strategy to maximise customer relationships, integrating capabilities and technologies

 

Day to day, you’ll be working across Babcock to build a strategy to maximise customer relationships, integrating capabilities and technologies.

 

  • Support development of the emerging pan-Babcock autonomy strategy
  • Work with Mission Systems to develop the ability to maximise capabilities in systems engineering, sense/connect, effectors, technology analysis and military intelligence.
  • Engage with suppliers, funding bodies and academia to explore opportunities to jointly develop Research and Development (R&D) programmes, customer demonstrations and building eco systems.
  • Conducting operational analysis of the performance of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) systems and payloads against likely usage scenarios.
  • Engage with Business Development to jointly capture customer requirements and establish the capabilities required to develop options.

 

This role is full time, 40 hours based on site at Babcock Technology Centre with hybrid working from home arrangements.

 

Essential experience of the Autonomy Capability Manager:

  • Strong understanding of regulated aviation industries particularly around airworthiness, certification, airspace management and Unmanned Aerial Systems operation and support.
  • Good understanding of autonomy, autonomous systems, systems engineering, Unmanned Aerial Systems, sensors, effectors and systems integration.
  • Experience in programme management and capability development.
  • Have the commercial acumen to understand the potential opportunities and how to join the dots to build capabilities to turn them into actionable business cases.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external parties.

 

Qualifications for the Autonomy Capability Manager:

Please note that this position is subject to enhanced national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining SC, NNPPI or Developed Vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
