We have an exciting opportunity available for a Plant Computing Engineer with experience in Electronics at Hartlepool Power Station.

 

The Opportunity

 

This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals wishing to pursue a career in high integrity engineering working on systems designed to operate reliably 24/7. The group’s main responsibilities include engineering support of the stations plant computing systems which use a wide range of technologies. This Engineering vacancy will be of interest to those with an instrumentation and/or electronics background.

 

Join our Plant Computing team who have a wide range of skills, where you’ll report to the Protection and Electrical Group Head to ensure the long-term health and availability of our systems are maintained.

 

The Plant Computing team includes both hardware and software Engineers and the exact responsibilities will depend upon the skills and aptitudes of the applicant.

 

Training will be provided to perform the required role and further develop the candidate to perform wider ranging tasks in support of nuclear generation. 

 

Pay, benefits and culture

 

We can offer a competitive salary from £40,069 - £71,779 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you’ll be doing

 

We are looking for an individual who possess a robust understanding of electronics or computer engineering principles. As an Engineer, you’ll have close interaction with stakeholders to ensure high availability of the plant computer and support systems, which are essential control, logging or indication systems required for safe operation of a nuclear power plant. 

 

The duties of this role will initially be based on the individual’s skills, knowledge and experience. This will include: 

  • Gain expertise in the assigned system(s) and provide technical advice.
  • Monitor and review system performance to identify degrading trends.
  • Determine required actions and investments, including specifying, upgrading and deploying new components, systems and technologies.
  • Plant modifications including safety justifications to maintain reliability.
  • Undertaking time critical fault diagnosis and rectification on various plant computer and control systems

 

Who you are

 

As one of our Plant Computing Systems Engineers, you’ll bring:

  • A proactive and inclusive approach to teamwork, always encouraging continuous improvement and team development.
  • Ideally, you will have experience working with instrumentation and control, engineering and maintenance aspects of plant systems alongside.
  • Technical knowledge of digital electronics, including supporting existing and legacy designs.
  • As a minimum, you’ll have a relevant HNC (or equivalent). Applicants with a relevant Degree may have an advantage.

Applicants will be required to obtain CTC level vetting prior to taking up their duties.

 

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
