Are you looking for a rewarding legal career, at the cutting edge of project development, where you can really make a difference? If so, come and join EDF’s EPR Programme legal team!
The Opportunity
Embark on a transformative journey within EDF’s EPR programme as a Paralegal. We are uniting two of the most exciting projects in the UK, Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.
This opportunity will allow you to contribute your legal expertise to contract procurement, managing multiple matters, legal research and funding due diligence.
Beyond traditional paralegal responsibilities, you'll engage in high-stakes projects, including collaboration with diverse advisors. This dynamic role offers a unique chance to impact the entire lifecycle of a nuclear power plant, from investment to decommissioning.
Pay, benefits and culture
Alongside a competitive salary and a market-leading pension scheme, we offer a range of flexible benefits to support our people across all aspects of their lives.
Your rewards package includes a choice of benefits, such as electric vehicle leasing, enhanced parental leave, health insurance, discounts, and employee pricing.
The EPR Programme Legal Team are based in either our London or Bristol office, with flexibility on a weekly basis to work from home. Flexible working means we’ll provide a suite of IT equipment to ensure that you can work remotely comfortably and effectively.
Catherine Gilbert, Managing Legal Counsel says; “Working on the HPC and SZC projects is the most amazing experience for a legal professional in construction: you will get to work on contracts and issues that affect every aspect of the construction (and ultimately the operation) of these two mega-projects. We are a very supportive team, and we look out for each other – there is always someone to talk to and we enjoy regular team days and catch-ups including “Tea and Talk” sessions and “Coffee Roulette” as well as having close links with our external legal advisors who provide us with training, CSR and volunteering opportunities.”
At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. We’re committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, adjusting as you need.
We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.
What you’ll be doing:
As a key contributor to the EPR program, your role goes beyond conventional paralegal duties.
You'll be at the forefront of crafting the legal landscape for the Sizewell C and HPC Projects, engaging in tasks that include the meticulous drafting of NDAs, contract recommendation forms, and simple form contracts and purchase orders. Elevate your impact by not just maintaining but actively shaping contract templates and managing multiple matters including updates on matters and billing.
Dive into a spectrum of responsibilities where you won't merely review and analyse documents but actively participate in developing procedures and contract template updates. You’ll also embrace legal research and assist on due diligence for funding processes.
Who you are
As a Paralegal, you’re a skilled and motivated professional with experience working in the legal sector. We’d like you to have a law degree obtained in England and Wales or a degree with a law conversion course. It would be great if your background includes substantial experience as a Construction Paralegal, but if you're just starting out, that's okay too! We're more interested in your passion for the work and your willingness to learn.
A track record in drafting and reviewing various legal agreements, including confidentiality and construction contracts would be great. Experience extending to supporting ad hoc corporate governance matters, conducting legal research, and participating in due diligence and other projects across the business will be valuable.
If you’re familiar with the critical aspects of construction, funding and governance within a large-scale energy infrastructure environment we’d love to hear from you.
