The Opportunity


Would you like to provide governance and oversight on market risk and regulatory compliance? Reporting to the Energy Regulation Manager, your role as Market Compliance Analyst will be to ensure that all our assets operate within and navigate complex and rapidly changing regulatory landscapes? 


Location: We will support you to work on a hybrid basis. You will be based from one of our head offices – London, Durham or Edinburgh

You’ll be great at….


You’ll provide management & administration of all energy market compliance with regulators and Transmission system operators, including but not limited to REMIT & TCLC compliance & reporting.

  • Manage all regulatory audits requested by external stakeholders such as National Grid ESO, OfGem and DESNZ.
  • Develop key interfaces between EDF Renewables UK & Ireland and EDF (UK) on Grid Code, Generation License & Wholesale Market compliance.
  • Monitoring of financial risk from trading activities, such as forward hedging and ancillary service bidding.
  • Ensuring adherence to internal procedures and policies, creating these where they do not exist.
  • Providing independent challenge to the Revenue Optimisation team.
  • Producing regular reports to monitor and track compliance across key areas such as: balancing mechanism bid pricing in Scotland, REMIT publications and Grid Code data submissions.
  • Supporting market registration for new assets.

What do you need to be great at this role?


You’ll hold a relevant academic qualification at degree level or recognised equivalent in addition to;

  • Knowledge and experience of the UK energy market / regulations, energy trading and ancillary service markets operation (Wholesale Markets, Balancing Mechanism, Frequency Response Markets)
  • Knowledge of the policy making process in the UK and ability to understand and synthesise complex regulatory documents.
  • Strong commercial experience with quantitative and qualitative skills.
  • Experience of the energy industry is essential.
  • Experience with Route to Market contracts (e.g., PPAs) is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical thinking with the capability to effectively present and communicate key findings and recommendations.
  • Strong compliance capability.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with both internal & external stakeholders.
  • Effective at building relationships with internal and external shareholders.
  • Able to work effectively across a business with strong influencing skills.
