Job Descrption
Summary
Performs duties related to field-based leadership in assisting schools with ESOL programs, professional development, Title III, technical support, program improvement, use of evaluation results and curricular interventions; this position is split funded 90% Title III and 10% District cost (4 hours per week).
Essential Duties
Assists with ESOL Scheduling and Curriculum
Provides technical assistance with ESOL Program
Title III Duties
Assists ESOL and general education staff in identifying effective instructional strategies for English Learners to improve student achievement and in identifying effective evaluation tools to measure on-going student achievement
Provides Title III technical support
Supports teachers and schools to ensure instruction is effective for English Learners
Collaborates with ESOL teachers to research and implement best practices to align strategies and increase student achievement
Supports Literacy Development of English Learners by training and coaching teachers in reading, writing, listening and speaking instruction for English Learners
Provides training to general education and ESOL teachers
Collaborates with schools to develop professional learning activities related to school improvement plans; Assists principals in developing and providing customized trainings for schools
Conducts, develops, and coordinates Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP ) Training and other professional learning for the District related to English Learners
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
Performs Title III duties as assigned by ESOL Coordinator
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree plus ESOL Endorsement
Certification/Licensure
Experience Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of federal grant regulations and compliance guidelines preferred
Must have professional knowledge and proven use of effective teaching strategies for ELs and professional knowledge of curriculum-based assessments
Strong desire to work with ELs and developing teachers
High technological skill level required with experience with Shared Documents, Excel, Microsoft Office, SAMS, eSchoolPlus
Proficiency in website management
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential information
Must be able to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
